Dictionaries and term collections - technical infrastructure

Risten.no is a server and plattform for development and publishing of dictionaries and terminology collections. In its first incarnation it only contained the old term collection going back to Samisk språkråd, but the intention was always to provide a hosting service for a multitude of dictionaries and term collections, giving a unified search interface to them all, and at the same time allowing flexible and varied structure, depending on the needs of each collection.

It is also planned to integrate risten.no with the language technology projects going on. This integration will go both ways:

• the language technology projects should provide services to the search and lookup interface of risten.no, e.g. generating paradigms, suggesting alternatives when the search words are misspelled, etc. One could also imagine services to the editing environment.
• the terminological and dictionary entries in risten.no should be used as a source for compiling language technology

In fact, the integration could be as strong as having dictionaries in risten.no as the only source for the lexical entries used when compiling transducers (analysers and other tools), as is now the case with the Komi dictionary (not publicly searchable), and which will be the case with the new proper noun dictionary.

• a meeting memo
• basic testing procedures
• some editing specifications
