Future plans

Sámi language technology now has the basic morfological analysers in place for North and Lule Sámi (and with cooperation partners, for Greenlandic), and we are about to finish basic work on South Sámi as well.

We have future plans along two lines. First we plan to include more languages: The Eastern Sámi languages, and other circumpolar languages, such as Komi, Nenets, Faroese, Iñupiaq and Inuktitut. Then, we plan to work with several new aspects of language technology:

  • Text-to-speech
  • Intelligent dictionaries (North Sámi-Norwegian released!)
• Future topics
  • Grammar checking
  • Machine translation
  • Translation aid
  • Sámi SMS-messages on the mobile phone
